Our team at Inverell Veterinary Clinic are here to provide you with a friendly, safe and helpful experinece for you and your pets. We will treat your loved ones with great care and respect as we would our own.

In the beginning of 2024, two familar faces, Matt and Glen joined Greg as practice partners, bringing their experience, passion and commitment to excellence to lead our clinic into an exciting new chapter of care.

Our Clinic is proud to have a dedicated team of 8 veterinarians committed to providing exceptional care for your pets.   

Rounding out our team are the passionate nurses that add a personal touch and kindness to caring for your animals.

Greg Powell

Practice Owner (BVSc)

Greg graduated from University of Qld after spending 10 years working on cattle properties across the top end. Greg enjoys all things Veterinary related, especially large animal reproduction and production and small animal emergency.

Greg's accreditations include:

APAV accredited, Ovine Brucellosis Accreditation Scheme approved practitioner, Ovine Johne's accredited, Cattle Pregnancy Detection Approved (Scanner & Manual), Accredited Bull Examiner, Accredited Bovine Semen Morphologist, AJC & Australia Stud Book Approved and Completed an Advanced Course in Equine Dentistry.


Matthew Verri

Practice Owner (BVSc)

After growing up on the family beef cattle farm in the Tenterfield district and working on cattle and sheep properties over North West NSW, Matt graduated from the university of QLD in 2011. Matt has been working full time as a mixed practice vet in the New England region ever since. During this time Matt has developed a keen interest in large animal practice. Don't be fooled though, Matt is just happy to deal with any species.


Glen Borrowdale

Practice Owner (BVSc BVBio BAppSc DipAppSc)

Glen graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2012 and began working at Inverell Vet Clinic in August 2012. Glen initially moved to Inverell in 2005 and worked on an Angus Stud assisting with stud duties and embryo programs. He also married a local girl and has a young family. Glens veterinary interests include cattle and dog production and reproduction, including pregnancy testing and bull testing. He is also Ovine Brucellosis accreditted.


Charles Hann

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Charlie graduated from James Cook University in 2012 and started at Inverell Vet Clinic in January 2013. Charlie is from a cattle and cropping property in the Croppa Creek district.

He has an interest in Equine Dentistry, large animal medicine and emergency medicine.

Charlie has completed "The essentials of Equine Dentistry" in 2013. He is also cattle PregCHECK accreditted, Certified BullCHECK, Ovine Brucellosis Accredited Practitioner  and is a NSW Racing official.

Charlie runs a small herd of angus cattle with his parents and enjoys spending his free weekends helping out around the farm with his good mate "Norman" the kelpie.


Thomas Barnwell

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Tom graduated from the University of QLD in 2020 and started work at Inverell Vet Clinic in December 2020. Tom was born in Zimbabwe but more recently hailed from Toowoomba where he completed his schooling. 

 

He has a keen interest in reproduction particularly cattle and equine lameness work. Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing Rugby for the Highlanders and fishing. 

 


Hannah Fotheringham

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Hannah graduated from James Cook university in 2017. She started her career in Warren at a mix practice for two and a half years and recently locumed in Tasmania. She joined our team In February 2021.

Hannah's main interest's include small animal/horse reproduction and ophthalmology. Outside of work you will find her playing tennis with friends or riding her horse. 


Sarah Drew

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Sarah graduated from James Cook University in 2018. She worked in mixed practice in St George and briefly in Grafton, before starting at Inverell Vet Clinic in November 2023.

 

Sarah enjoys large animal vet work and surgery. 

Outside of work she enjoys playing AFL and riding her horse.

 


Ruby Donaldson

Veterinarian

Ruby graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from James Cook University in 2024 and joined the Inverell Vet Clinic in January 2025. She has a strong interest in large animal work and is a dedicated and valued member of the team, committed to providing high-quality care and building lasting relationships with clients and their animals.


Mandy Powell

Front Office Manager

Mandy (wife of Greg) runs the office side of things in the clinic including payroll, accounts and general administration duties.


Zoe O'Brien

Nurse Manager (BAgSc)

Zoe began working at Inverell Vet Clinic in 1996. She then completed her B. Agricultural Science Degree at Brisbane University of Qld and worked as a Practice Manager at a major Veterinary Clinic prior to moving back to Inverell in 2005.

Zoe is a senior nurse/manager in the clinic, managing inventory and other areas which help to maintain and organise the practice.

Zoes main interest in Veterinary Nursing is Emergency Medicine & Radiology.


Jess McCarthy

Assistant Nurse (BAgSc)

Jess started working at Inverell Vet Clinic in December 2014 as a Veterinary Assistant. She completed her Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 2014, majoring in general animal production.

Along with Jess's bubbly personality, she also has a love for the outdoors and animals both large and small.


Phebe Turner

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Phebe was born and bred on her family farm in Inverell. She began Vet Nursing in 2015, and joined the Inverell Vet Clinic team in 2022. Phebe enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, but in particular horses and large animal work.

Phebe is a great ambassador for our community and was crowned our very own “Rural Young Woman” at the Inverell Show in 2023. She also enjoys playing footy, camp drafting, spending time with family and friends and travelling.


Tayla Welsh

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Tayla began working at Inverell Vet Clinic in 2015. She worked one day a week, whilst completing high school, to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Tayla began full time work at the clinic in mid 2017.

Tayla enjoys assisting with large animal reproduction work and small animal emergencies. She loves to spend her spare time outdoors with her dogs and family.


Helen Spry

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Helen has worked for many years as a Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse with both small and large animals. Having spent 10 years as an equine nurse, she moved back to small animals in Emergency & Critical Care. Helen began work at Inverell Vet Clinic in 2021. 

Helen has a passion for the industry and regularly travels in Australia & overseas with Vets Beyond Borders volunteering in desexing clinics. 


Jess Whan

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Jess joined our team in January 2023. Jess completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020, and began working at Maleny Vets in QLD, before moving home to be closer to family. She loves working with large animals but does enjoy small animal emergencies as well.

She grew up on a cattle property in Glen Innes, then made the move to QLD, but made her way back to us (thankfully!). In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her 3 dogs, family and travelling.


Mel Hann

Veterinary Nurse

Mel joined the Inverell Vet Clinic team in 2024 after completing her certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. With a strong passion for animal health and welfare, Mel brings both practical skills and a deep commitment to the care of animals. Outside the clinic, Mel's family operates their own Hereford stud, and she has a particular interest in breeding cattle, combining her knowledge with hands-on experience in the livestock industry, making Mel a valuable asset to the clinic and wider farming community.


Raylee Adams

Assistant Nurse

Raylee started working at Inverell Vet Clinic in April 2020 as a Veterinary assistant. She soon became a full time member of the IVC family. 

Raylee enjoys all aspects of working in a vet clinic, in particular she loves working with large animals, especially horses. 

Outside of work Raylee regularly competes with her Australian Stock Horses and enjoys spending time with friends, family and her large range of four legged friends. 


Abbie Whalan

Assistant Nurse

With a Diploma in Agriculture and a Certificate III in Agriculture specialising in stock horse training and breeding, Abbie brings a solid foundation in animal care and handling to her role at Inverell Vet Clinic. Abbie has hands-on experience working with livestock and a lifelong passion for animals. Abbie shares her life with dogs and horses, so she has a personal understanding of just how important they are to the families that love them.

Abbie is proud to be a part of the Inverell Vet Clinic team and is dedicated to delivering compassionate and quality care to animals and the community.


Lysa Martin

Assistant Nurse

Lysa moved to Inverell in April 2014. Before her move to Inverell she had worked in an Animal Shelter and Boarding kennels.

She began work at Inverell Vet Clinic in early May 2014, where she continues to utilise her passion for looking after animals. Lysa has 3 dogs and 2 cats at home & enjoys spending time with her animals and family.

Lysa is enjoying working in a Vet Clinic, as she is learning many new skills every day, and is looking forward to her new adventures in Inverell.
